Meet the Team

Paul Bannister BSc (Hons) FCA      e-mail pb@hca.org.uk

Paul has been engaged in the accounting profession since 1988 after leaving the University of Manchester with a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science & Accounting. He qualified with Price Waterhouse Coopers in 1991. After a successful period in industry and a spell working in a local firm of Chartered Accountants, Paul decided to go it alone and established Haywards in 1994.

In his spare time, Paul enjoys going to the gym, running, scuba diving, clay pigeon shooting, and motorcycling – not all at the same time though. Along with his daughter, Paul is also a keen Wigan Athletic fan - although he has been tested lately by the Latics’ recent attempts to cling on!

Paul Alexander AAT      e-mail pa@hca.org.uk

Paul has been with Haywards since 1999. He deals with all aspects of accountancy, taxation, payroll and VAT for our clients and has a knack for turning even the messiest bag of receipts into a meaningful set of accounts.

Paul is an avid Wigan Athletic fan. Music runs through his veins – his favourite bands include Kings of Leon, The Smiths, Elbow and Arcade Fire to name but a few. When Paul is not slaving away at Haywards, he enjoys keeping fit, watching gigs and attempting to play the guitar.

Martin Gibbons BSc (Hons) ACA      e-mail mg@hca.org.uk

Martin qualified as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse Coopers in 1992 and held a number of roles in practice and industry before joining Haywards.  Like Paul, he also attended Manchester University.

Martin is the organisations ‘intellect’ and has a vast knowledge on a wide range of topics, from abstract art to zoology. When not watching University Challenge, Martin enjoys clay pigeon shooting, running, live music and boxing (watching, not getting hit!) in his spare time.

Adele Woods BA      e-mail aw@hca.org.uk

Adele is our office manager, without whom the business could not operate! Adele has worked with the company for over three years, and looks after the day to day functions of our operation.

Adele’s other passion in life (besides her partner!) is music, and is fanatical about Duke Special – even though hardly anyone has heard of him! When not attending live gigs, you can find Adele in her kitchen indulging in her other passion – cooking. Italian is her speciality – although we are still waiting to sample her luscious lasagne!

Simon Kelly BA (Hons)      e-mail sk@hca.org.uk

Simon has recently joined Haywards as our resident marketing chap and practice manager. He is a Business Studies graduate with approximately 20 years experience in the advertising and media world. Simon’s core skills are in sales and marketing, and he has a passion for the internet and new media.

Simon’s other passion is for cars. He is still a kid at heart, so much so that he still collects toy cars. When not collecting Dinkys, Simon’s other hobbies include walking, reading and photography, and trying to be a great husband!

Ann Bannister      e-mail ab@hca.org.uk

Some say, Ann is the bravest member of the team, in that she has to put up with Paul at home as well as in the office! Ann’s main responsibility is ensuring that Haywards VAT is up to date. Along with her payroll duties and her admin skills, Ann ensures that the Haywards house is in order.

When not working, or looking after Paul and the kids, Ann likes to ‘potter’ about in the garden and dreams of seclusion in an allotment somewhere.

James Reardon      e-mail jr@hca.org.uk

James is the newest recruit in the Haywards team, and he’s the youngest! Despite being the ‘baby’ of the organisation, James brings with him a wealth of experience from various commercial organisations. James finishes his accountancy technician's course next year and has already warned us that he expects to fill some of our shoes as soon as possible.

James enjoys training in one of the local gyms in his spare time, and enjoys following his beloved Everton.
